try learning flash

 

flash, although proprietary and requiring a plugin, is FAR superiour to GIF for a few reasons below:

Scalable
-flash files are vector, meaning it doesn't matter if the browser is 200px wide, or 1600px wide, your animation can scale if you want it to, and never become pixellated. GIF animations are limted to the pixel size you create them at.

Colour depth
-GIF only supports a maximum of 256 colours per file. If you're just doing a single image this isn't so bad, but it's REALLY hard to make a decent-looking animation in that colour-depth. Flash suppourts millions of colours so you've got plenty to choose from!

Controlled playback
-Flash files will play at the same speed from browser-to-browser, and from operating system to operating system. GIF animations play back at different speeds depends on browser, and operating system, and there's no consistency or reliability.

Filesize
-chances are, a flash file if designed will, will be a smaller download for your user than the GIF would be, even using the best methods for saving GIF it's still saving at least partial frames of images to layer on top.

Felxibility
-flash files can have arbitrary rules in them, like loop 3 times then stop, loop three times, skip to this next loop and then stop, loop for x amount of times, then change to this for x amount of times, then back. Whatever you want. with GIF, you can loop, or play once.

Personally I use it myself and love it

 

i use photoshop and finish on imageready. you can also use some software available. They are easy to use. I cant remember the software name.

 

Photoshop can make it alone without Image Ready, Also Gimp Software can do it.
