    Hi all,

I'm looking for voice recognition software but I'm not 100% sure which one to buy... I need some input from DP members since I trust your recomendations.

I've heard good things about: Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8

Unfortuanately I don't actually know anyone who uses it. So if anyone has an opinion or a recomendation, please don't hold back.

    cheers.
    Pete

I bought it based on a STRONG recommendation by the editor at bookthink.com. He is a heavy user and finds it to be an essential program. I used it some but found I felt silly talking to myself and, more importantly, it was not a good match with my writing style. I write drafts off the top of my head and then go back and polish them later. Dragon would work better for someone who is reading in material, or who is working from an outline.

From a technical standpoint it worked very well.

The reason I want to buy it is because I just can't stand typing out articles and random content. I always try to make things perfect and often find myself stopping half way through to *try* and make it all flow better. Needless to say, I haven't finished an article or content page for a very long time.

I also want to just dictate my content and have the software capture everything so I can edit later. To be honest I don't even care how well things flow anymore, I just want to get back on track and start generating decent content for my sites! I'm in a MAJOR slump. :(

I am mostly concerned with the software's ability to ACCURATELY capture what I say... but you said it's pretty accurate? Would it be fair to say that it can effectively capture 90% or more of what you dictate?

PS: I don't mind talking to my computer... I have a baby and I've already gotten used to singing and dancing in the living room... talking would be a great change! :D
