What kind of billing system would u suggest?

Lets say im going to sell a maximum of 15 products. What would be smart to use as a billing system. I had in mind modernbill but that was made for webhosting. Could i use this as well? I had a look at the demo and its amazing what you all can do with that system. Is there anything similiar maybe?

I think modernbill is more for services & not products? I have not really played too much with it - only been billed for advertising by a few people before though - that is why it makes me believe it is more for services.

Well at first im going to sell just one product. With the intention to sell maybe some products later on as well. You could compare it with a service right? Or would you recommend to have a look for other billing sytems as well. Modernbill looks really packed with lots of features.

Why not an e-commerce package like osCommerce then?

Well do you need to maintain inventory? What about affiliates? You should look at what you want the shopping cart to have and the look at the features of the cart. A service is something that you do for someone - like build a web site. A product would be selling templates - two totally different things

Inventory yes, but it will be all the same product. I just need to keep track of, how many where sold and to whom. Allow me to set transportation costs, automatically produce the bill and send it to the customer by email. Create my own bill layout. Affiliates would need to be included as well. I was thinking to use a referal code. I know modernbill has all these features wonder whether oscommerce does have that as well. I just had a look at the oscommerce but the admin demo is down at the moment. So for now i don't know much more.

I would go with a shopping cart. I still think Modernbill is geared more towards web hosting packages rather than selling products on the web.

I am not too certain what language you might be looking for - ASP, .NET, PHP

i use litecommerce from the same people that make x-cart.

I find it so easy to implement I can get a new storefront running with affilates/coupons

it also has built in stuff like whats hot and related products...

    good 1 stop program imo

I'd agree with Corey. Modernbill is designed for hosting and domains. You can use it for selling other services and products, but you would probably be better off using something like OSCommerce.

I have decided to go with OScommerce. Does anyone of you know whether OScommerce has a billing module. Like sending bills in batches, sending bills per email etc.

osCommerce has a few contributions. You should be able to find everything there

I'm looking for something similar where every 12 months the client is billed automatically, via email with details on how they can pay for their advertising.

Well that is more like a service. Is that the only service you will be offering with the 15 products?
