What should I charge for a 420x250 ad on my site?

Right now, my website is sitting at 15,000 pageviews a month, but is slowly increasing. I just got an e-mail from somebody who is interested in buying a 420x250 ad above the fold on my website. I've never sold an ad before. I am just curious, how much should I charge a week for this ad placement?

I don't want to go too low, but I definitely don't want to overprice. It's a pretty big sized ad.

    Thanks for the help

About $10 a month? 15,000 pageviews would probably get a 5% conversion and thats around less than a 1000 visits a month.

The standard price will hovering around $10~$15/month.
However if your site have PR then you can charge more.

as low as u can if u want a long term relationship with the advertiser
as high as u can if u want a sort term with ur advertiser

or may be free for trading a banner with the advertiser ads spot?

    that's my idea... ;)

another factor is the niche. If it is gambling, pharmacy or porn, you should charge more- but bear in mind that if you accept such niches, your future number of clients may be reduced as there are clients who want to advertise on family friendly sites only :D

15,000 page views monthly isn't high traffic, but the ad size is big enough, so I suggest charge for at least $25 per month which is $6.25 per week.

We don't know how targeted your visitors are to the advertiser and how many percent of people will click.
I think one click cost between $0.05 to $0.10 is reasonable. So let's say the advertiser gets about 500 clicks a month, then $25 - $50 is not overpriced.
