What to do if I only have 0.1% CTR in my site

It is a Hong Kong forum
I cannot put the banner above the fold as the members are refusing
Can anyone suggest what I can do?

What is the forum about? If it isn't about search engine optimization, then that could be the problem. .1% seems very low, but I've heard forums usually have a lower rate. The ads also show in English (but I'm in the US).

And I tricked google to show english ads

 

Hmm, even though i can't read what it's about i have noticed the following. My eye went directly to the ad at the top left, try making it another color and if there is a way to have it be more relevant, unless it is. And maybe where is says who's online you could have a lil button ad or something, iono just my .02$

 

So unlucky that Google told me to remove the line

since i was using iframe to place ads

Where is the google add? I can't see any english google ad. I just a box on top left corner, with "Google ?????" written at the bottom.

Again what does this site caters to, I understand you have forums, then you have two options:
- try to have ads at the bottom of first post
- try have skysraper 120 X 600 vertical banner ad on left side of forum post.

forums are tough on CTR. You've got to keep playing around with placement and colors until you get something decent.

 

it's difficult to have nice ads if your website is not in english. i have a chinese forum too. the ctr is worst, so what i do is creat an english version, and my ctr have improved a bit, but i still need to work on it. you can see my sit at www.fengshuicity.com/forum/

microtony, can you tell me how to trick google on showing english ad on chinese website?

 

If you have a .1 percent CTR you need to get some better targeted ads or something!

 

Probably by adding english headers.

 

i try english headers, but because most of the site content is in chinese, it wouldn't show english ads. google just have too little chinese daword users, hope they can work on it. i wonder how is it like in other language? german, french, spanish....
