What to study???

What do you think are suitable university studies for someone who wants to make use of their acquired web developer skills?

If you're interested in listening to my personal story, you can read on. ;)

One year from now, assuming I do well in the national exams in Greece, I will be able to study anything I want, even medicine, because I have the grades for it. The problem is, I never really had an answer to the question: "And what to you want to be when you grow up?" and I sure as hell don't now.

I know I like drawing with pencils and computers, interacting with people on a personal & professional level and have some experience in creating and promoting websites. That's where my abilities lie. But I do have my grades and my family asking me to consider becoming a doctor.

But you can't just say you're going to draw/design websites for a living - you have to go to university first and study... what? <-- I know this logic is flawed.

Should I go for Architecture, Business and Economics, Marketing & Advertising, Medicine? I am clueless.

Once you become a doctor, you will have no time to mess around with Adsense !

How about taking Business/Management or something general. When you graduate you can work for (or run) a consulting firm and focus on Internet marketing.

You need to ponder deeply on :
    1) Your dream/passion and what you love to do
2)Your competencies/ skillsets i.e. what suits you technically.
For eg. You may want to be a rockstar but if you don't have the musical talent, then forget it.

Then you also take into account the pragmatic aspects
    1) Established Professions (e.g. Doctors, Architect, Lawyers, Accountants etc) give you something better to fall back on, better prospects than general degrees like Business, Marketing.
    2) Length of course/ $$
Heavier professions like Architecture, Medicine take up 5-7+ internships etc. and are normally full time courses so do you have the $$ to last that long. Of 'cos if you are a relative of rich Greek tycoon like Onassis, then $$ is no problem.

IMHO, based on what you say that you like drawing and interacting with people, then Architecture/ Design may suit you. Combined with your IT skills, it may be a breeze for you as these days architecture drafting/ planning is done use software like autoCAD. Your IT/ computer will enhance and jumpstart and advantage compared to the other architecture undergrads.
It is also useful to get a exhaustive list of all the available courses and run thru' them one by one to pick out those that fit yr likes/skillsets. There may be courses that catch you eye which you never tot of earlier.

But ultimately, you decide yourself so spend the time to research and go thru the choices 'cos you don't want regret a few year later that you have done the wrong course. :)

good question, this must be decided by yourself. I'll very soon attend a damn good university in the states. I'm hoping to be a doctor, if my grades will LET me that is.:D

do what you want to do and don't look back.
