What type of website generates the most profit?

Hello. Any opinions on what type of website generates the best profit. Considering it has high quality and good traffic. I feel like building a new website and am trying to figure out what it will be. I have some ideas but I would like to hear other people's opinions here. When I say profit, i'm thinking about adsense and affiliate programs, things of that sort.

 

Hmm... you won't get any kind of mass money making ideas from this Forum just some good advice.

I'd suggest writing about your interests/hobbies, it's easiest to start with. For adsense, check for high paying keywords, then find the ones you're most comfortable writing about. For affiliate based programs, www.clickbank.com has a nice list of them. I'd also advise ebook websites selling something niche. They're easy websites to make if you're doing the sales site layout, and can make alot of profit if you've got a good product and a good way of advertising it (Adwords in most cases).

pick something you will enjoy working on, otherwise you will tire of it, and it will go down the crapper. Plus, you also want to give real value to the user - and you cant really do that with re-hashed information.

Plus, with the way smart-pricing is effecting Adsense publishers - it may be best to sell some sort of service as well, since that will probably make you more of a higher-value publisher which will in turn get you higher payout per click.

I am not sure that one should do a website on a topic that he/she likes.
Personnally, I manage websites for my living, not for pleasure.
And there are very profitable niches. In my case (I am located in France, maybe that things are different in other countries), the most profitbles niches are:
- google adsense, mostly with credit-related keywords
- adult dating with adultfriendfinder
- casino pages
- e-commerce affiliation (especially eBay)

I have tried dozens of strategies and I chose to concentrate on the most profitable.

Even though I have been able to generate traffic thanks to high ranking in search engines, what did not work for me was:
- amazon and books in general
- ringtones, video games, wallpapers
- adult pages

another not-so-mainstream idea: to know what are the most profitable niches, I advice you to buy those 'get-rich-quick-with-my-miracle-method'.
I did it twice and it helped me a lot increasing my profit. The writers did not invent anything new but you have in one document a good synthesis on the info you need to make profit.

I think you're asking the wrong question...The money comes from the quality of the traffic you drive to your site...You can make money in any niche if the traffic is good.

The guys that make the most money do PPC...Second up are the coupon sites...

expand on your own interest, i myself ended up creating a "new market" sort of from a niche, now i have dozens of sites trying to copy my success

 

Start with something you know about and research the keyword profitability through wordtraker after all search engine traffic is free and could give you a good start to being profitabble

You just have to log on as an advertiser to Google or Yahoo, or other PPCs, and test various words to get a handle on what the bid value is. There are some sites that have slightly out of date lists for top words at you can find on the net (I would give a URL but I don't have one, but you can Google one up easily enough), but none of them seemed to me to be comprehensive in their scope. There are also lists for sale.

As a general rule, where Google and Yahoo/Overture rates are high, there are enough targeted advertisers out there to make selling display ads a possibility if your traffic is high enough.

If this is a long term project, however, I would take personal interest into account along with rates. Life is short.
