What was your favorite tradition as a child that your parents or a special person in your life did for you? Something that you will never forget that is a great memory for you as a child?

I was a child of 8 and i remember my mother always asking us our favorite breakfast the say before our birthday. Even though she already knew because there would of have been no way she would be able to prepare that without planning. Everytime on our birthday we had our favorite breakfast and the whole family at the same thing and she was a working mother. Great memories and great times

When I was a kid, my folks had a summer cottage on a lake that we would go to every weekend during the warm weather months. It was isolated and on Saturday afternoon, my Dad would take me and my brother to a small convenience store a few miles away to get a newspaper and any other needed items and would let me buy a comic book. I looked forward to this trip all day long and would read and re-read the comic book that evening. We could not get TV reception or anything like that, so it was great entertainment for me and something that I remember enjoying to this day.

It sounds a bit silly but in the part of France where I grew up we had a tradition that goes back to Roman times. There if you catch a ladybug and let it go free, you supposedly would receive good luck for the rest of the day.
I can remember catching ladybugs with one of my parents or siblings then waiting for the good luck that was sure to come my way. As I grew older it dawned on me that the whole thing was bogus, and I stopped believing. It was fun while it lasted.
