    Hey,

I have a domain - Pawn dot ws - I have a few ideas but I was hoping for some suggestions on what other people think would work best :)

Thanks for any help / ideas!

Either you want to offer some sort of pawn shop services (which would be tricky) or perhaps you could offer something to do with the game of chess?

I'd want to do something along the lines of the pawn shop option - I wouldn't want to pawn myself.

Pawn scripting ( Code ) and chess seems to come up a lot for the search terms, but I think pawn money related would have a lot higher income.. Just not sure exactly what way to go..

Some governments view people as pawns. You can start a political satire site of some sort.

We'd need to know more about your skills and passions. There's no point creating a site that you have no interest in etc.

A Pawn shop service of some sort seems a great option.
You could build a pawn shop directory or maketplace to start with.
    Goodluck.

I can't see that working at all. Pawn shops rely on foot traffic and you'd be competing with eBay so yeah good luck with that.

No as I said, I wouldn't do pawn ( As in offer ) - True about the foot traffic, but I also seen some very popular and well doing online pawn sites, including quite a few advertising on TV and in national newspapers here.

sarahk - I have been working on sites for a long time, my main thing is building them up, I just go for markets where there is a good market - I don't think anyone wants to be a pawn broker anyway ;)
Gambling and travel is the main things I have been doing for over a decade, I started in poker and I didn't even know how to play myself at the time, I also have never used a pawn shop but hoping the name could be used for something :)

OK, so if you have an exit plan the niche doesn't matter so much as you're not relying on long term enthusiasm. I'd go for a chess site. Write a nifty little html5 drag and drop chess game, promote it and off you go.

    Thanks again Sarah :)

Do you think there would be any profit in that?

I was thinking something more along the lines of people pawning.

A directory of places.. I don't know to be honest.. One domain I just don't know know what to do with at all.

I doubt chess is going to have a high CTR or income, also don't think there would be any advertisers, I don't see where there could be any income at all with chess?

Maybe not, but you're not necessarily looking for that if you just want to sell it to an enthusiast quickly.

Your "game" might not even be the complete game, it could be the a mid-point of famous chess matches so that people can see if they do better than the Grand Masters.

I doubt you'd get many advertisers if you went the pawn shop route either

A final alternative might be in adult where you specialise in some sort of kink where people manipulate others into participating in their fantasies (ie they're a pawn in someone's sex game). Not my thing but there's loads of money in porn and you'd be able to sell it easily. Or even keep it simple and make a play on the fact that pawn sounds like porn.
