Looking for this kind of job...what is a fair price for a job like this?

    a. Development of the site’s overall look & feel
    b. A user registration system
    c. A site administration system
    d. An Add/Edit/Delete system for users
    e. A Forum to discuss issues
    f. A display system similar to the homepage of http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/
    g. A text-based advertising delivery system that displays ads relevant to the page’s content.
    h. An anti-spam system to prevent spammers from flooding the site with unwanted content.
    i. Training and Testing of the site

Any suggestions or ideas of what this kind of service would run me?

I never have any idea as to how to price projects. However, I think by posting these types of threads, your replies will usually be overestimates.

I recommend posting this on a buy services subforum to see what others are quoting you.

oh okay thanks for the suggestion...I will try this! I am not having any luck here in this suggest. But, I have the same program. I really don't know how to quote prices for projects. Because I want to be fair, but I don't want to be taken either.

Are you going to custom code all these or just install scripts that are available on the internet?

Except for items a,f, and i, I think you can get all you want from a site system like Joomla, phpNuke, etc.

    a. can cost anywhere from $50 to $3500 depending on what level of professionalism and uniqueness. $50 would get you a template, 3500 gets you a professional site you could submit for awards.

    f. may be something that is available as a script or could be coded for seeveral hundred dollars

    i. training depends on the end users ability and initiative.

I would put it somewhere in the $10,000 range. To do that properly, with good documentation, and training you're probably looking at about 2-3 months. Don't forget all of the visiting time, detailed requirements gathering, etc.

Definitely best to get a range of quotes. Try Scriptlance for low prices, Guru for higher.
