Whats better PNG or GIF for transparent index buttons?

    Hey guys im just wondering what would be better for index buttins??

    should I use PNG or GIF? The reasom im asking is becuase everytime I save a GIF file with a transparent back ground using Photoshop CS2 the font goes a little 'rough' but when I save it as a PNG file it saves ok. So im wondering do all browsers read png??

    by the way the font im using to is just standard ARIAL so its nothing special...

    Most modern browsers have no problem with PNG. I'm old school though, and still use GIF whenever I can get away with it.

    It might just be your GIF output settings. Can you post a link to the PSD?

    ok apparently png is un-compatible with IE6, so if i can't use png what do you think is the best solution?? how can i keep the text without having it change? the anti-allience tool is unclickable so i can't turn it on or off
