I believe "iPods" fit that description.

Yeah but you can buy ipods anywhere...

If you really want to corner the market, what about:

    • sweaters for tarantulas
    • super-stick toques and baseball caps for men with skullets
    • slippers for snakes
    • potato chips that stay crisp in the wash
    • non-skid socks for kittens on hardwood floors
    • real-time word-censor implants for men living with women to avoid those awkward "is it that time of month?" or "those jeans make your ass look big" moments
    • dinner plate shields that prevent slippery foods from being propelled from your fork into your date's blouse while you're trying to cut it
    • {add your own here}

    ROLF
Doggies need those as well, or at least ours do. We've got one that likes to chase his tail and it's the funniest thing to see him try to do it on the wood floor.

What's hot right now...pirate radio, pod casts, blogs (everybody AND their mother is doing it), craigslist barter, ripoff craigslist sites, making something with Google maps, and running adsense.

Hacking or modding is also huge right now. Anything to do with turning one thing into something else. Go check out www.makezine.com or www.readymademag.com to see what I mean.

The next big wave of dot coms will be search engines and gaming sites. Every time I turn around I see mention of some new startup to do with one or the other. Living in the hotbed so near Silicon Valley means I'm surrounded by wannabe startups. It's kind of exciting actually (albeit somewhat annoying), there's a creative vitality here that I really haven't felt in other places. I guess it's not surpising this is the birthplace of Burning Man, Survival Research Labs, and a ton of other totally cool groups of people doing things their own way. ;)

[I take it you were thinking of "products" but this is what came to mind.]

Scoobies, my daughter and all her friends are mad on them and I've still not found any instructions yet that I can understand.

ROLF? I'm guessing that's the slippery pooch himself saying, "I agree - get me some damn traction!"?

iGo power adapters are gaining in popularity for gadget freaks. For Kids, Wiggles anything, Dora Anything, Playhouse Disney, etc. Charity Wristbands are hot with teens but are due for a collapse.

    You mean Wiggles the cat?

Which one was Wiggles again? The normal one? Or the Chernobyl mutation?

That boring dancing show- "Dancing with the Stars" in combination with that documentary about kids in NY learning ballroom dancing may spark a new dance craze. Glenn Miller recordings, tap dance shoes, and how to dance DVDs will become hot commodities.

    Interesting call....

To add to the list, the American Idol folks are coming out with a new competition tv show for dancing as well.

I wouldn't go so far as to call them a Chernobyl mutation: http://www.thewiggles.com.au/

They have a tv show and do concerts and have a bazillion toys.

They are kind of fun when you first start watching them - you get the "at least it's not Barney" thing going, but after a couple of weeks... Well, there's only so much "Toot toot, chugga chugga Big Red Car" that you can handle :)
