whats wrong and what could fix this

I got my site on digg.com the other day, & got about 50k hits that day and had about a 1% ct rate. to me the placement seems great. there was a skyscraper at the top which i removed but the rate stayed the same as it did before i removed it. i did add a 5 link only bar at the top to see if the rate went up but haven't noticed yet.

my question is what would make the ctr better? i thought i had them in good spots and it's boggling my mind where i could put them for higher ctr's.

I think position of your ads is just right, but maybe your visitors found enough information on your site and didn’t need to look somewhere else.

 

i thought so too. hopefully they find it useful enough. would be cool if instead of hitting x they clicked 1 heh. the ones clicking from digg were the 1's who posted comments they were too lazy to read teh whole article lol.

 

should i change the image at the bottom back to the 2 box links? i would think the user would see the 2 links at the bottom when they're done reading and click one. or would it be better as a banner?

only thing that sucks about that is the 2nd and 3rd ads on pages don't always show up ><
