I installed Avira and it has become a playfield for viruses. Avast, the same. it is telling me that it found some viruses
And that wants to remove them. I clicked on remove and after fixing or removing, it prompts to restart I agreed.
After restarting the cycle continues of detecting and repairing.
I scan all system and after removing/repairing and restarting, it notifies me again about the viruses in my system.
The cycle continues for about 10 times and it is driving me nuts. The notification is driving me crazier even more than the virus.
By the way it is Avira free with current updates. Couldn't turn off notification. Please give me some idea before I crush my laptop on th ground! thx.

my system crashed almost completely and I have to format it. After formatting and installing windows afresh, I installed Deep Freeze which made my computer to reset every time I restart my lap. The icon is in the bar but couldn't see the options. Now I partitioned my hard drive and installed win xp again. Donno what antivirus I will use.

Well, a very good and free antivirus is microsoft security essentials. I use it at home and at work, never had any virus/malware issues.

Tip: do not install more than one antivirus software. They tend to get into each others way (declare the other as virus, scans take much longer etc. etc.)

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials ever since it came out. No problem from viruses so far and it doesn't take up too much system resources.

Why don't you use Avast alongwith zonealarm (both are free to use and good to use).

This is what what happened to Avira in my system. I used it for a long time but the problem is once a virus enters and infects files, it prompts you to repair the files but after you agree and restart your system it asks you again to repair those files. Now the cycle goes on and on until it drives you crazy.

Even the autorun virus which is everywhere on the net is detected by Avira but it only says that it has blocked access to the file or something. The next time you restart the same message continues everyday. Now that is a little annoying for me. The notification will drive you crazier.

As for Zonealarm, I did not use it.

The same thing happened to my system when using Avira and Avast i.e after your system files are infected, the antiviruses will block those files or try to repair them or delete them then my system crashes. I have to format it again. Microsoft's security essentials is fine till now. Hope it will help me.

I heard someone say where I am getting the viruses. Well the software available in our country are hacked softwares so most of them have viruses. These softwares are sold all over the street for a cheap 1-2 dollars. The internet cafe's are also another source of viruses.
