When do I look for advertisers?

I am developing a social networking site that should be launched in early January. I wanted to know when was the best time to start soliciting advertisers? Do I wait until it is launched and functional, or when I have something that shows concept but has no function? Any suggestions?

In my experience. No advertisers will bother unless you have a decent amount of traffic.
So build your site, traffic, and user base. Then the advertisers will come knocking :)

Try to focus on the traffic and get member at the first place. Once your traffic is good enough, then you can easily get advertiser, you can found some advertiser are coming to you
