When to park a website?

Feel free to move this topic if it doesn't belong here :) So when would one park a website? When one can't monetzie the traffic in any other way? so they use parking as a last resort? when one has a good domain and knows they can earn from direct type ins? when one doesn't have timeto develop the site so leave its parked for a bit of extra income?
I just signed up onto sedo to park one of my domains. I've never messed around with parked domains before but thought i would give it ago. However i've only earned a few pence off a few clicks. Is sedo a low payer when it comes to domain parking? What are the best domain parking sites? Any input is welcome!
    :)

There's no hard and fast rule,

Whenever I think a domain has development or resell potential, I'll register and park it first until I find the time and/or idea to do something with it.

As long as you have no use for your domains at the moment, park it and come back when you have something useful for them. :)

Good domain, indexes, good keyword and a nice flow of organic traffic is what would make me park a site. If none of those are applicable to your site, I wouldn't add it at all because its not worth it. Make sure you have some traffic flowing to your domain first..

Thanks for the input guys, are high payouts based on keyword? or are they based on company? e.g will one company pay more for a keyword than another? what are the best sites to park with?

If you park with lets say your host company, they will take some $$ off your earnings so its best to just make your own parking spot and place affiliates on it. Some topics pay more than others of course.
