Its just a cut from my template I am making. quality is at a loss the actual files are crystal clear. I was wanting to make a chain to join all the menu;s together.

On the first one I would watch the edges and positioning. I believe Luigi is missing a shoe, you probably want him and mario to be the same size so it looks proportionate. I like the text design and colors. The "net" part looks a bit off because it is vertical and smaller. I usually keep my text consistent if it's a part of one sentense or a name. What's up with a semi-transparent rectangle on the left hand side? On the second one, is white background supposed to be part of the picture? Is the orange stuff a part of a pic too? I once agian like the design and positioning of the text. How long have you worked in photoshop for?

both pictures are at 15% luigi just seems to be bigger. I found a huge picture on google which had a white background thats the first time ive used the magnetic cutout tool and it turned out alright.

I put the .net as you can tell .net is not the most popular and I added it because the .com is also a arcade site.

the transparent rectangle is for like adsence or advertisement or any PPC program.

about the white background. currently I do not have a background but since it is a .jpg the background is automatically white.

im not sure on what orange part you are talking about. the search box? yes I decided to add some color to the template

BTW its a template to replace www.arcaderush.net

ive had a copy of photoshop for a long time I just borrowed it from a friend I cant afford the $100's price tag. so far ive had photoshop for about a year but just started using it a couple of days ago.

Also im one of those people who does not like a 100% perfect website thats the reason for the liquid splash and funny shaped panels.

2nd picture is about 1 hour after I made the first as I started to get into shadows and 3d effects ect. I believe my skill just went up a notch.

I voted its "alright". If you are new to designing banners, its not a bad start but you will have to improve a bit if you are looking to start selling your services or include these in your sites.

They are more on the "mySpace" level right now.

    Keep working at it though!

I finally know how to make neon panels now its a pretty cool effect.

I think you will find though that some of the "cool effects" are so overused they scream amateur. I would look at portfolios of some of the pros and try to create the same banner. Once you get really good at copying them, you can start creating unique ones

    Hi Chris,
I vote #3. I think when doing banners it is important that all the text can be well read by the visitors. The design elements in the mario banner are good, but it would be better if the fonts are more readable at first glannce. But over all it's a nice job! I'm a newbie at designing too so it's nice to meet a lot of people here at DP who can really give nice inputs. Good luck to you. See yah around. :D

I am looking into making the panels join up on the website. I will look through tutorials and find some way of joining them.

Looks pretty good, but I don't like the font in the menu or the Statistics box.
Also I'd give the boxes to the left slightly less drop shadow/outer glow.
