Where Do You Get Your Motivation?

Hello Guys,

I don't know about all of you but I work from my house doing what I do, some days I feel like I can do anything on here then there's some days where I feel like doing nothing at all because I'm afraid I'll fail miserably at my career. I was just wondering where do you all get your motivation to keep going on and doing what you do for your business?

I find that fear of failing miserably is a great motivator.

But then maybe I'm just lucky ;-)

This is my motivation

 

Lately business hasn't been so good. I've saw an increase in direct competitors and sales are down. I'm constantly looking for new and better online income generating opportunities. When I mail out my newsletter and subscribers write back pissed off. It makes me really really angry. They signed up for the darn thing and they chew me out because I sent them my newsletter.

There's nothing worst then a day without sales. A day without sales is like being gut kicked a couple of hundred times. I become almost panic striken. I get all freaked out. This month so far hasn't been good.

My biggest motivation is simply, I don't want to have to go get another real job. The thought of having to work for some jerk of a boss who knows half what I do. That just puts drive in me to diversify and find new and better income making opportunities.

 

I feel the same way, i love what I do and I use that as my motivation so I never have to work for someone else. Money actually never really gets me motivated that much because I just love doing what I do and money to me isn't true happiness, I believe that is about 90% of my problem for not being motivated because I don't look at money like others do and some how I need to overcome that.

 

Being solely motivated by money only leads to trouble and you will probably never really obtain much of it. Don't chase money, let it come to you.

Think about something that you really love, but takes time. It could be writing, riding your motorcycle, horseback riding, painting, bowling, learning to play guitar, or whatever.

Your motivation should be this: The more successful you can make your business, the more time you can take for what you really love.

What is the point of living if all you do is make money and pay bills?

 

Do what you love and the money will follow. To me money is just an idea and a way to measure my progress. I'm pretty much spoiled now, I've experienced the easy money. Waking up finding a couple payment notifications. Seeing Adsense produce more income then a sleu of vending machines. Money to me is the measureable evidence of my level of achievement. I think education is important but I find it a bit comical that I'm making as much as some college graduates are making. Took them 5 years to get their degree. I didn't even graduate high school. The only paper I have to show for my success is my bankstatments. What is worth more? A piece of paper that says BS in whatever or a beautiful bank statement.

School didn't teach me anything about what is making me money. I learned all my programming skills on my own, no formal training whatsoever. I learned how to market online, mostly by trial and error.

The thing that motivates me most is just the gratifcation I get, when my friends complain an whine about their job. I'm not bragging here. It took 10 years of my life hunched over a computer to get the knowledge that I required to make money online. But I can only imagine where I'll be in the next 10 years.

Doctors, Lawyers, ha. I'll stick with being an entrepreneur, so I have a chance of being a Bill Gates, Micheal Dell, Thomas Edison, Eli Whitney, Henry Ford. I like the verse in the Bible, Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. That pretty much sums it up for me. So I might not win, I might not end up being a billionaire. But at least I'm in the race, at least I'm running, at least I'm trying so I might have a chance of winning.

People who are employees, they aren't even in the race. There are some people who are born to be business owners. And there's people who couldn't be a business owners if they tried. It was the spirit of the Entrepreneur that built this country and it will be the spirit of the enterpreneur that keeps this country.

I like the old chinese proverb, "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime." You got all these fishes out there, with money in their pockets. Without a business you don't even have a chance to catch them. If you have some kind of business, you have at least a chance. You might not catch the big ones. But at least your fishing. Somedays are good, somedays fishing is bad. But I'm still out there and I'm still going to fish. Keep fishing, the big one could be a fin away from your line. Don't ever give up, your dream could come true tomorrow.

I love my family, and I take providing for them very seriously. I also take being with them, and enjoying our time togather very seriously which sometimes means less time on projects that could be making more $$.

In the end, if we lose sight of the purpose of our efforts, then what are any rewards for our efforts really worth..?

I get motivated by many things, but I think the most important thing that motivates me is studying people who are very successful who started from nothing. See, I started with nothing, but have begin building a good life for myself. I've always been inspired by the underdogs who fights to get to the top.

The other thing that motivates me is knowing that if I get to where I want to be I will never have to answer to a "boss" at a "job". I think being self employed and calling the shots is what motivates me more than anything. And money of course.

 

When I started trying to make money online in 94, I had about $40 to my name. Back then, a webpage on a folder of a domain could run you hundreds to thousands per month and domains were $100 a pop. lol

Talk about bringing out your creative side.

Never give up because the odds seem to be against you. Nothing worth having in life is ever given, it is earned.

 

I've been looking at all the things you guys have said the same way and the more I look at it the more I get motivated. This is something I love to do with a passion and something I want to do forever and I'm going to make sure I can. I was reading about a certian individual who I'm sure all know about which was Shawn Fanning, he is an inspiration, he did what he did to help people and because he loved it, not because of the money.

 

I find something outlandish that I really want, then I keep going back until I get it. Sounds kind of materialistic, but it works.

At first it was a $300 belt. Never did get it. By the time I had enough money that I could totally throw 300 away on a belt, it was gone.

Then it was a really spiffy computer.

Then it was a car.

Then it was another car.

Then it was a house.

Then it was another car.

Now it's either a boat or a car and I haven't made a decision yet. Now things are so expensive that it really really takes a while to pick up that kind of money.

I have other motivations as well, but they are more personal. Things like specific things I want to accomplish and I gear myself towards making those things happen.

 

I have a series of bookmarks from various success stories and or tutorials about how someone made a ton of money and is sharing their technique.

Whenever I am feeling down I do a folder open of those bookmarks and start reading.

 

I hate failure, I enjoy giving, I love my wife and child and want to spend as much time with them as possible, so I work hard when I work. i guess that is what motivates me.
