I forgot to mention that DrawPlus 4 and 7 have the very best animation producing software I've ever used. version 4 is free. If you get frustrated at jumping through hoops at serif.com drop a line to me and I'll give you a direct link. I'm still too new here to post a link in my responses.

Wow it's fascinating to know there are some Art programs (which I'm unfamiliar with) out there which people will choose depending on what works well for them or providing support for. Perhaps it's early days to know what is really a dominant Art program, though Photoshop appears to be holding the Aces, though perhaps Coral Draw has something to say about that as well!? ;-) Certainly interesting to see Microsoft hasn't exactly done the deed again in Art Programs!

I started out with Paint Shop Pro but now I use Photoshop CS3 mainly for everything. But I'm working on a new style with 3d text using Xara. I've also used Image Ready but the new PS doesn't come with it.. I need to get that again.. Been wanting to use Illustrator but too lazy to mess around with.. And maybe thinking about checking out Fireworks.

I used to use photoshop but now I use photofiltre. Photofiltre is faster and easier and I found a freeware version floating around the net...now it's paid software. I'm more of a casual user though.

I've been using fireworks for many years, since the buggy version 4. It is a fantastic program if you are comfortable working with vectors. I really love it for creating websites and doing interfaces. hell, even doing illustrations works for me :) i guess it's all about what you are comfortable using.

some animals i illustrated for a project i worked on this week, using fireworks.

I'm fond of editing digital photos and I use Photoscape - it is a nice do-it-all tool..

It has a sleek file viewer, of course a user-friendly image editor, a slide-show creator, and the best thing I like is it's batch editor.. it also has a screen-capture function. :)

I've been standing by Adobe Photoshop since 5. I've gotten so used to it that no matter how many versions they release, I'd be sure to get the hang of it in less than 30 minutes.

I've only really used photoshop CS2 and CS3. I used to use Paintshop pro a long time ago and it's nowhere near as good as photoshop. For creating animations I tend to use flash and for 3d I use 3D Max. I personally think those are the best programs out there but I haven't really used anything else, because I'm used to using them.
