I don't use one of the public ones. I only use the ones that I wrote. I just feel in control of stuff if it is written by me.

I'll second that, PostNuke is just so easy to use.

We use in our sites a custom version of Wordpres because its very flexible and adaptable to our necessities.

I found that too. Wordpress may not be the most feature-rich CMS, but for smaller sites, it's stable & flexible enough to handle most things, and the number of plugins available mean that a lot of problems are already solved!

    cheers

Etomite. Worked with all the above mentioned and I just hated them. I chose etomite because i can code my own template from scratch, very easy, and handle the info with chunks and snippets.

Great! I wish I'd read this thread before downloading Xoops and then having to go back to their site and download all the modules to make it work....

I'm guessing by the lack of votes that the consensus is that Xoops sucks?

Though I'm using Joomla on more than 10 sites, I prefer to use Drupal for my serious sites (for security purposes).

    *Voted for Drupal

Drupa is good, but I think Joomla is 2-3 years ahead of it in functionality and available plugins and modules, plus it's easier to learn.

I've installed WordPress, Textpattern and Drupal.

    WordPress is excellent for blogging.

Drupal is ugly but as Drupal advocates like to say ITS SO POWERFUL (Indeed, if you have a computer science degree).

I vote for Textpattern. Simple and elegant. Can do more than just a blog but competes there too. Supported by a friendly international community.

That is one of the reasons I didn't enjoy my Joomla experience. I found it tremendously slow to use. It seemed that when you had more than 1 database action occuring that the whole thing would lie on it's back with it's legs in the air.

Grrr...still no closer to finding the answer
