How are you thinking of using a cms?

I really haven't seen one where the is an expiration date for the article and I would think that is something you need for classified ads.

I used Joomla with the Noah Classifieds plug in which gives an admin defined expiry date.

Okay that I can see working. Good suggestion. Noah works pretty well for a free classified site. For the benifit of the OP do you know if it plugs in to any other cms.

Joomla is one I have never tested.

A quick check of the Noah site didn't find anything.

    I use DeltaScript's PHP Classifieds.
It's built specifically for classified ads. Not sure what you meant by CMS though.

Delta is very good. Most likely overkill for what he wants to do.

A CMS is a script that allows for Content Management without the user needing to know anything except the most basic of the HTML command set. Pages are created via template from information stored in a DB.

Wordpress is an example of a blogger's cms. The ones already mentioned above and gosh knows how many others are out there. They work like your delta script to create categories and postings for those categories. Those postings can be from one or many users depending on how you set up the back end.
