    The answer to the original question is: there is NOT a single company I would recommend above others. All, without any exceptions, will have downtime and problems. I now have redundant hosting: all my sites are hosted on 2 differents IPs with 2 different hosting companies; when one goes down, I just switch the DNS A-record to the other. There are plenty of cheap companies out there, starting at $1 a month + approx. $2 for the dedicated IP.

    I think Hostgator is the best for hosting websites. My website is hosted on hostgator. A few days ago, something went wrong with my hostgator account and their customer support were very patient and polite in helping me to fix my problem. I recommend Hostgator

    I recommend HostGator to everyone, I'd stay away from smaller hosting companies, because they don't have the support, or experience that the larger webhosting companies (Such as hostgator) have. :)
