Which Datacenter were you sent to?

Since I have been making SEO Tools and partaking in a year long experiment (documented here at Digitalpoint) I have become more familiar with Datacenters than I ever expected to be.

A short time ago I wrote an article many of you have read - About Google Datacenters. In this article I have included some handy tips.

As this recent update is progressing and serps are bouncing from here to hell and back I continue to hear folks say something like "I hope this will migrate or 'spread' to the real Google".

I thought it might be interesting and educational to have folks try this out.

    TIP:
Quick way to find which Datacenter your results are from:
If you just opened a browser window and went to www.google.com to do a search you can easily find out which Datacenter your results are from by running your cursor over the hyperlink "Cached" for the cached version of any of the results. As you mouse over this hyperlink you will see the address of the cached page in the Status bar (far left bottom of your browser window). If your status bar is not visible go to the top far left Menu bar - (File , Edit, View, etc) go to View and then down to select "Status Bar".
The address will look like this: http://66.102.7.99/search?q=cache:ZmuFn7M2RqMJ:www...

The 66.102.7.99 is the IP address of the Datacenter you are currently using.

SO, try it and let us know - What Datacenter you were just sent to?

I was just routed to Datacenter -64.233.161.104

So far out of the 8 searches done on www.google.com...

We have been sent to 7 different datacenters.

I've been keeping a table of the results for one search on the different datacenters throughout the day as our experiment page has been bouncing all over...

From That table: If we had all been searching for that same keyword here is where it folks would have found it. (Real users would not have since they would never look that deep in the serps :( )

    64.233.187.104 (position #219)

    64.233.161.104 (position #100)

    64.233.167.104 (position #160)

    66.102.9.104 (position #156)

    216.239.57.104 (position #160)

    216.239.59.104 (position #161)

Thanks for the link. I checked it out quickly and found they have had "no reply" for quite some time now. But I will go through their archive to see if there is anything in their older records.

Actually, I never expected to be finding new datacenters with this little exercise! :D

But since we seem to be finding some here I am currently trying to come up with some sort of prize or reward for winning entries!
    - afterall the new datacenters will only enhance the McDar line of tools!

    I am currently considering...
    - a free link of choice from one the tools
    - a month free Banner Ad from one of the tools
    - Certainly a contributed by.. note on the Datacenter History page

    Prize Suggestions welcome!

oh - and remember - every time you go to www.google.com you can be routed anywhere. So, feel free to report datacenters as often as you like.

CURRENT "WINNERS" (flawebworks, Tuning, schlottke) - please PM me with how you would like to be mentioned on the Datacenter History page linked to above as I will be adding to that as we go along. ( I don't think annonomous forum names would be recognition enough - but it is up to you)

I will be happy to add something like
xx.xxx.xxx.xx - contributed by www.somesite.com or contributed by John Doe. Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Caryl
