Do not even install Free Hide IP! I just did (version 3.6.4.6)and: First, I clicked the button that said "Hide my IP" and the program said "You are now protected" or something like that; I went (with FireFox) to whatismyip.org, which detected my real IP!

Then I thought maybe the Firefox extension needs to be installed; well it could never install the FireFox extension: the program asked me to specify the location of Firefox, which I did once stating the "Mozilla Firefox" folder, and once stating the "extensions" folder within Mozilla Frefox, none of which worked. Checking the "extensions" tab in FF confirmed it was not installed.

Then I went away from my PC for 20 minutes; suddenly I heard the error dialog default sound again and again, every 5 secondes. I rushed to the PC, and it was Free Hide IP opening one dialog after another of "Out of memory". Never has ANY program EVER done that before on this PC. I had to press the reset button of my PC to stop this crazy process.

Well, when the PC rebooted, my screen display was all wrong; the top 20% was black, and only 80% of the desktop was displayed underneath, meaning that moving the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen made the display scroll down, showing the bottom 80% of the desktop, and moving the mouse pointer to the top made the display scroll up, showing the upper 80% of the desktop. And the font in the text of items in the taskbar was distorted. I had to use System Restore to fix the problem. This program is shit. (BTW I use Windows XP SP3).

I always recommend to use VPN rather than using a software to hide/change your IP. I have used few software to test but 90% didn't work. I tried to check my internet speed using few software through speedtest.net, it captured my local IP more than 90% times.

tor has a lot of weaknesses, such as simple java being able to disrupt the protection, to unencrypted data flowing through who knows who's computer, to the government running many of the exit nodes.

List goes on, I myself prefer to setup my own VPN's.

Works for my requirements, super easy and CHEAP. Plus much faster and more secure than 'tor'...
