Yeah Ebay is probably one of the best choices to sell your paintings there as it pretty much covers every category that exists.

You can also try to post classifieds on art forums.

I would reccomend Etsy, it has a better audience for people buying art, Ebay may work and its worth a try but sell them as BIN not auction

You can approach some web sites for charity and then to promise 50% of your commissions. They will promote your paintings, people will buy just to support the charity and you will paint and sell.
Everybody are going to be happy.

I suggest you go to amazon before ebay. There are too many stories of people getting ripped off on ebay.

My personal ebay story - about 2 years ago I bought a power supply off of ebay - the seller said it was for a certain model Dell computer. When I got the power supply, it was a standard ATX power supply, and was not designed for a Dell system. When I filled to get an exchange or get my money back (either one would do), - the seller would not respond to my emails, and paypal said it could take a month to get a refund.,, so I finally had to modify the case to make the power supply fit.

After stuff like that, I rarely buy from ebay anymore. I dont care if amazon is a little more expensive, I dont have to worry about the run around if the item needs to be returned.

    Hey mate,
what kind of paintings are you selling?
I was doing this for quite some time. I have even wrote an ebook about it...
First of all, yes ebay is your best choice. Stay away from etsy, it is a lot (and I mean a lot) more competitive than ebay. The audience is also not as huge. You will need to be exceptionally good in both painting and marketing to make it on etsy. Stick to ebay, its a lot more easier.

Actually, instead of writing all of this, I will just link you to a very good video, made by some guy who is selling his art on ebay. He covers it pretty well. Here is part one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNmrzk8KA2A (and no, the guy is not high or anything like that... haha)

    Cheers, I hope this helps

I'm no expert on selling artwork, however I have seen artists sell their paintings on eCrater. It doesn't seem like a bad alternative to eBay either. Items seem to get indexed in Google pretty quick as well.
