Wordpress is good for new folks...tons of themes...tons of modules...etc...I have moved to Drupal now...would not suggest that for newbies though..

why don't you want to use a mysql based system?

Wordpress is the easiest, Joomla offer the most in terms of scaleability for a newbie, although you can scale wordpress beyond belief with more experience, but Joomla just involves a little poking around and you can figure it out really quickly, plus Joomla offers some really nice free and paid templates.

I personally love Joomla. It is great for beginners and experts alike. It has the largest online community of any open source CMS, so getting help is easy, from their forum.

CMS is built for people without coding knowledge.. so if coding is the problem all CMS will work for you..

But getting around their interface is another thing.. joomla's learning curve is a little steep for starters id go with cmsmadesimple or wordpress

I built a site in WordPress, then migrated it to Joomla. I built some others in Drupal and ExpressionEngine. WordPress is the easiest, but easy also means limited functionality compared to the others. Joomla has a nice visual interface, and the core product is OK, but the third-party modules and add-ons don't integrate well.

Drupal is very tough on newbies. It may be a great CMS from a programming standpoint, but it's not intuitive and requires a lot of effort to figure out. ExpressionEngine is the best of the bunch (just in my opinion of course!), but it costs $250. After spending two years pounding my head on Joomla and Drupal, I forked out the money to migrate my sites to EE.

I'd go for WordPress as well and I've just tried SilverStripe once and it wasn't bad
