    are there any alternatives of pligg?
    or where can i get custom design for pligg....I didn't like pligg default design
    How about doing it with drupal? any idea?

    Indianpad.com is using their own hand written script.

    Go for pligg as already adviced, but remember India is already flooded with sites made from pligg and your particular niche may not have many takers.
