    The difference between CS4 and CS5 is minimal. I think if you are a beginner it's better to start with CS5 because this edition is improved and renewed.

    CS5 is where you need to go if you are just starting. Might as wel start with the improved version.

    CS5 has many features liek content aware, refine tool which makes it easier to use. If your hardware doesnt support it, download a portable version.
