I bought season 1 of lost for my mother in law for christmas.... She watched it and returned it about 3 weeks ago. I zipped through it pretty fast and was addicited. I then subscribed to itunes to season 2 and am now all the way caught up.

    I love the show!

I am the same way. About a month ago I bought the first season and watched it all in 2 days. I was addicted.

Then I had to jump online and download episodes 1-10 and watch them for the second season. But now I am just going to sit and wait for the 2nd season to come out on DVD. But I love the show.

The only thing keeping me from watching this show is my instinctive rebellious nature. When a show gets so popular that it becomes a sin not to watch it, you can bet I won't be watching it. Unless I'm onboard from the very beginning (like with the X-Files) I refuse to start now just because everyone says how awesome it is. I know, I know, it's very silly, but what can I say, this rebellious instinct of mine has served me well in High School and College, and I refuse to let it slip now as a semi-adult.

Having said that, I'm certain it's a good show. I just wish everyone would stop telling me I must watch it or I'm not "cool". (And when I say "everyone" I'm not talking about you guys, but rather the "Lost" saturation via the media folks.)

But I feel about Prison Break and 24 the same way you guys feel about Lost. Can't get enough of those two shows.

Hurley is the man! My favourite character.

Yep, I watched almost back to back episodes, now waiting for the next series too.
Can't get a good TV reception where I am ATM so just watch dvds instead.
After becoming addicted to watching back to back 24 episodes, I don't think I could go back to watching one episode a week.

Yeah, really good show, apart from the fact nothing happens really. I mean, what a crappy ending for Season 1! I hardly know anything new about the island after watching it for 14 hours or something? I like the way Lost focuses deeply on like 12 main characters which goes against every script writers manual.

I also like Invasion, which is a similar kind of thing, survival from the unknown.

Um, yeah, Shoe, that was the point I was trying to say, heh heh. I didn't watch "Lost" from the beginning because the commercials and from what I saw of it, it didn't appeal to me, hence I did not watch it. Now, two years removed, I continue not to watch it. If I was doing what you say I was doing, then I would watch it, because the media dictates that I watch it, but I don't, because the media doesn't dictate what I do.

Shoe, come on, man, I thought you would have gotten that. You're my hero and everything, sheesh.

nono I did get it... because others think its cool you dont watch it.

My point is... why dont you just decide for yourself.

Even by not participating in what most do your still letting them decide for you if that is your sole reason for not watching

But what if that's exactly what they wanted you to think, Jack

There's a movie script in here, I just know it...

But that's the thing, I did decide -- when it first came on, or before it came on, actually.

I saw the previews, read the storylines, and it just didn't appeal to me, so I didn't watch it. See? I did decide -- waaaay back then. Even now, I have no interest in watching it, despite how great everyone keeps making it out to be. I just can't picture how a show about a bunch of people trapped on an island trying to get down some hatch for an entire season is such riveting television. Everytime I see commercials for each new episode, I just think, "Geez, look, they're still on the island, still just arguing about doing nothing. Weren't they doing this last year, too?"

But I'm taking this thread waaaaaaay off topic. I should leave it to you guys who love the show to discuss it. Apologies for dragging it in such a negative direction.

    Please continue...
