    Yeah, that's horrible looking.

I've thought about converting my car into track car. Seeintg pictures like that makes me realize how much attention I would need to pay to the car's safety features. I'd probably even get a fire supression system.

Are you still driving the 350z?

Have you seen the Nismo version?

    http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/nismo_350z.asp

There's a place in the UK that you can take the 350's to and get them spec'd up for track racing...

I'd love to drive a track day... My step dad took his CSL over to Nuerburgring last year - I couldn't go because I was moving house that day...

    I was GUTTED.

I still have it...but with snow on the ground I don't drive it often. It's just not as fun. :D

And yes, I've seen the Nismo versions. I actually have a Nismo exhaust system. Some of them look pretty cool too. Minus the stickers of course. http://autonet.ca/francais/Nouvelles/Autonouvelles/storyimages/story14410-picture19463-L.jpg

What is the M3 CSL...I don't think we have the CSL version over here. Just the E46.

gworld, 140 is the fastest I've taken this car. I'll probably take it all the way now that I have good tires. The stock tires were scary!

Yeah those are really great looking bits of kit. It's certianly on my 'list'.

    CSL --> Coupe Sport Light...

They knocked 243 lb off the normal M3 and added an extra 30 or so bhp..

It's the gear box that's the best bit though...

Nice... I got mine up to 160 - which I thought it was speed limited at 155, but it kept on going. It's crazy going that fast. It's almost impossible to look down at your speedo with the world going by so quickly, I can't understand how you took that picture.

What's the fastest you ever took a corner? My wife hit a hard left at 65 and scared the crap out of me - my soda flew all over the window. I never hit one that fast myself.

Best drive ever was through Monterrey in the pitch black night following another 911 through the curves at a steady 75. It was like a roller coaster. I never would have had the balls to do it without a leader - not with those cliffs. The wife is still upset that I put her through that one :)

HA HA- your wife? Man, my wife can't even drive stick. And she doesn't even go 65 on the highway. :D

I usually take turns pretty quickly but I don't think I've ever hit one above 55 or so. My ass was out all over the place.

There's really not good places to drive around here. A few of the expressways are pretty fun at night...especially the on and off ramps. But that's about it.

It was about 7AM on a Sunday when I took that pic and nobody was around.

The scariest thing to happen to me was when my car stalled at 110MPH. The air intake I installed was prone to do that I guess. I almost shit in my pants...literally.

Yeah, fast driving is fun, but definitely beware. I've done my fair share of racy driving, so I'm not gettin high and mighty. But last year I saw a horrible accident. The guy was going about 100mph when he tried to pass us in the right lane, weaving between cars. He swerved and went across 4 lanes of traffic, flipped his truck into a ravine. I think he was drunk, can't be sure though.

We stopped, my friends called 911, and I ran across the road to see if I could help him. The cab was crushed, couldn't get him out no matter what I did. It wasn't pretty. 6 cop cars showed up, 6 fire extinguishers did no good against a gasoline fire.

I had a similar experience when I was in college. I was driving 55 on the I-5 past the grapevine which is entirely unheard of, but I had to conserve gas since I only had 20 bucks to get back to school in my bug. A guy came up behind me going 100 and was changing radio stations. He looked up at the last minute and instead of passing in the left lane, he freaked out and passed me on the right shoulder.

When he swerved back onto the road, he lost his back end and we were facing each other. He had the most shocked look on his face and I'm sure I did too. I hit the wheel hard left and did a 360 accross the left lane and ended up on the shoulder stalled out. He flipped his car twice and finally stopped 20 feet from my car, with his on the side.

Seeing enough CHiPs episodes, I knew that his car was going to blow. I ran from my car and jumped on his, tugging with all my might at his passenger door to no avail. I looked inside the car and he was laughing hysterically. So I punched his window and gave him the middle finger.

I ended up with two flat tires, which I had to bounce a check to get. That bounced check of course cost me the hundred bucks for the tires + another 40 for the bounce which to a college freshman may as well have been 10 thousand dollars. It took me an entire semester to pay it off, but the gas station owner was pretty reasonable about everything considering I knew the check was going to bounce when I wrote it.

LOL... remember the days when 20 bucks would get you enough gas to drive accross the entire state of California? Now I can barely get to the beach and back.

The Harley riders always confuse me...Just curious, how much did you spend?

I personally am a Kawi guy, and last summer my ZX10 pushed 150+ HP. You should test drive one this summer. You've never lived until you've tried it..

Did you try this in public road? I tried 150 and I thought it was too scary with all other traffic. 997 almost feels like a go kart in those speeds. I don't drive that fast on public road anymore.

Snap. I had a 911T many years ago and to be honest was not that impressed. (Porsche owners are going to want to hang me for that). To me a car should be fun, and the 911 wasn't. I got rid and got old and now my Saab 2.3 turbo does what I want it to, why only last evening I put my 6 year olds bike in the hatch back and drove up the road to a car park where she could get used to it. New bike she had for Christmas, bigger than the old one.

YES my friends I have become Sensible.

Oh and as for knowing your Porsche is gonna blow away all comers, tell that the the guy in the 911 turbo who after flashing me when I was on the Ninja turbo became very small very quickly in my mirrors :D Round bends the 911 Turbo will beat a bike, but straight line speed, forget it. Again though this was a few years ago as I no longer have 2 wheels. Such is the price we pay for getting old ;)

Should see me on Colin Mscrae rally on the x box though. dagnabbit

It was on the 5 heading up to Chico at 2:00AM. (Chico is in the right between the middle of nowhere and BFE). The only car on the road was the cop who eventually pulled me over :). That's a whole other story. Needless to say they were not too pleased - but they didn't arrest me.

The road to vegas allowed me a few other high speed drives. The 993 felt solid up to about 135 or 140. After that, you sort of lose the feeling that there's a lot of power left in reserve. You just keep the pedal on the floor, hang on to the steering wheel, and occasionally risk a peek down at the speedo to see how fast you are going. I had a long straightaway and with no other cars on the road I figured I might as well see what she could do. I had the car for about three years after the 160 night and never had the opportunity to get going like that again.

That happend to me too. I was in Belgium and they stopped me for driving 135 in a 55 road. I was very confident that they can not do anything because I was driving a German registered car with a Swedish driving license until they told me because so many tourists don't pay the tickets, either I can pay the fine in cash or they will take the car and I can pick it up after paying the fine. I wasn't very happy after paying them about $700 so I can drive away.

Confuse you how? The V-Rod floats around the $20k mark. I paid considerably less.... A search of the V-Rod forums will likely show how much.

Ah, the V-Rod is a metric cruiser. It's not a light little croch rocket. Not knockin the Kawi, hell I had a Honda before I got my V-Rod, you're just not comparing apples to apples here. For a cruiser that tops out at 140mph, it's plenty faster than anything out there in its class.

My motor is bone stock. I have a friend that did the big bore on his. Got 263 horse on the dyno last here, on a V-Rod... That is insane!
