Okay all you computer Junkies...Who has the Baddest Computer? I'm talking about the most souped up configuration. I want to see numbers people!
Do you have 2 Gigs of ram or 5 Gigs? What about your hard drives?:D

Also anyone have any recommendations for a souped up laptop? Is 2 Gigs of ram the maximum you can have for windows xp?

I am on an Inspiron 2650 P4 laptop that I won from a sponsor 3 years ago. It still does the job so I can't complain. Although the low video memory does leave space for improvement.

All I got is a AMD x64 Dual-Core 4400+, Ati X800 VideoCard, couple of DVD drives and a Gig of RAM...

More than enough to play Games and run SETI@Home on both cores while Surfing the net and listening to Internet Radio...

It'll keep me happy for another year or so... hehe :D

Ok, I'll bite. At home, where I am now... I have an older G3 B/W with a Sonnet 1Ghz upgrade. I believe it was like 350mhz originally. In PC terms, (according to marketing fluff) that would be like 2Ghz. It's old, but it's just the kick around machine at home. It has a Sonnet IDE RAID cards, and 4 250GB drives. I've got some dual 250GB firewire drives as well. Do the math. Lots of space. And it's full! RAM, 1GB. Running OSX Panther. I slapped a DVD player in it, and run a web server, some quasi experimental spam filtering, other dev stuff, and iTunes pumping out via a nice subwoofer and 4 speaker system. I'm watching "Resivoir Dogs" presently on it.

The main system I use at home is a 14.1 iBook 1Ghz with 640MB RAM, OSX Tiger 10.4.5 and a (self installed 120GB drive. The unit is connected to a (just bought the other day) 19" IC Power LCD for maxium viewing power. Got the iSite setup, evocam running (invitation only web cam server running). I like to work in the dark, so my Google USB light is lighting the keyboard, and I've got my iShuffle charging on my Google provided USB hub. The iBook is connected wirelessly via an Aiport Express wireless unit. I authenticate via RADIUS (using my MAC addy) back at my office. No one's getting on the network! Network wise, it is a shitty RR connection (since where I moved when I bought my new house, I cannot get my own service). I have my wife to thank for that. Switching is provided via a nice bay stack. I'm using a cheesey linksys cable/dsl/vpn router which does the job here at home.

Also have a PC laptop, but not much to say about it. It turns on, and IE seems to run ok... Nothing exciting about it. It's more of a conversation piece. The wife sports an eMac, loaded to the hilt, scanner, external drives, USB hub, camera, all the toys for Graphic Design.

At work, it is a different story. I run a dual 1Ghz G4 with 4 250GB drives, 1.5GB RAM, and dual 22" CRT's.. Yeah, I know... But those LCD's at 22" are EXPENSIVE!

I'm contemplating getting a mini for home to replace the old B/W G3, and some type of multi-terrabyte storage solution. Damn HD's are too small!

    That's all for now.

    1x AMD x2 4400

It's not the size of your RAM that matters, it's how you use it. ;) :D

im not great at hardware stuff, but i think the type of ram is as important as the size of it, value select stuff will severly effect high performace computers. SO you are not far wrong there
