I can't imagine life without my kids now. We've had some rough moments with my son (and he's only 9 months old!), but I wouldn't trade it.

I think my oldest sister feels about the same as your wife. She's pregnant now, but she has just about never even held a baby. Always said she wanted to have one, but never got near either of mine or any of my other sisters' kids when they were babies. I think it's really the older kids she likes.

Even now, she's not quite sure how she feels about babies in general, but she is glad to finally be getting around to having one of her own (she's 36).

She doesn't like Crazy_Rob either? I didn't realize they even knew each other... in fact, C_R is so rarely awake it amazes me that he's had time to piss anyone off...

lol, whoever votes there, should definitely not have kids ;)

    Excellent point!

I don't think you're ever totally ready for being a parent. You learn as you go along. If you have a lot of love to give, that is really the one thing that matters most. Anything can be learned. If you have what's best in mind for your child, kids feel it. A lot of people always give me reasons why they shouldn't have children. Not sure I can understand them all. I have a 7 year old daughter and she's the best that's ever happened to me. And no, I'm far from being a good parent. She thinks I'm great, though. Go for it, Rob. I've seen you moderate in here and do believe you'll be a good mod at home as well :)

2 kids in the house here. I have one and my girlfriend has one. Neither of us would do anything different, kids are great... But if you do have kids, the time is precious, and it goes by alot quicker than you think it does. It seems as if I was just bringing him home from the hospital, and now its 4 years later. So many good memories, and to see him smile is worth any sacrafice I have had to make in the past 4 years.

Being a father is the best feeling in the world. I remember when my daughter was born and the nurses asked me to cut the umbilical cord and I was so emotional I could not talk. In the video you can see the camera shaking from left to right indicating no.

There are so many little things I treasure so far.... every day is something new.

Rob- I will PM you her blog... it might make you want kids. :)

This is a great thread! It seems like there are lots of loving parents here!

I'm sure we'll pull the trigger eventually. My wife is in grad' scholl right now so we're thinking about thinking about it after she's done in about two years.

:D I have my hands full just trying to deal w/ these two!

You know what, I'm such an idiot. Until I saw your daughter's blog, I haven't even registered my daughter's name. And it was available in .com. I'm not sure if I will start blogging until she has an input on it though.

I never really thought about it. It just happened. It's the single best thing that has ever happened to me, and what I consider to be my biggest achievement.

No regrets! And think of it this way. With the type of jobs most of us here have, the flexibilty it offers is fantastic for having a child. Mine will be waking up soon, and I think I will be playing with legos for a while! It's like being a kid all over again. There really is no way to explain it. My son comes to work with daddy 3 times a week. I've got an extra office in my building for him, plenty of toys and grandpa to entertain him while we work. Go for it!

I didn't do it until a her birthday back in October.... but I'm glad I did. I figure when she's older (20ish) she can look back on her life as it happened. It's also nice for family that live far away to keep up on what's going on.

I'm sure that deep inside they love their kids as well. but I do know that they make their kids miserable while trying to parent. so I don't really know what's better, them having kids or not. One thing I know is that you can't BS your own kids, they see thru you. be ready to be tested a lot.

I'm not actaully concerned that having kids could possibly bring misery to my life.

But there definitely are people that appear as if they shouldn't have had kids. Then again, who am I to judge! :p

I think it just comes down to people, if you are reasonable well adjusted and have stable home then kids will probably be great

there are a lot of people not like that though

then there is the people who resent their kids becasue they think that they have lost their own life because of them, and their are the people who have kids so someone can wipe their ass when they are old.

Then there are all those werid abusive people who in turn produce messed up abusive offspring ....

yeah parenthood doesn't interest me that much, but you guys go ahead

so how is the diaper changing part ....
