    A bunch of idiots started all this by assuming the Mayan Long Count ends on the 21st Dec this year. It doesn't. It's a circular calendar, it has no end. When one cycle ends, the next begins. The world doesn't end every Sunday because it's the end of the week.

    The Mayan Long calendar is not predictive, it's a historic record of what happened at the end of the last Baktun. Heavy rains, floods, earthquakes etc.

    The end of the Long count coincides with a planetary alignment, and an alignment with the galactic centre. What this means is that there's a lot of gravity pulling on us at the moment, so we're seeing an increase in solar activity. As the sun gets excited the temperatures of every planet and moon in our solar system increase. A warmer planet means more and bigger storms, and more frequent earthquakes.

    The Mayans recorded this in stone as a warning to us, and told us exactly when this gravitational pressure would be at it's peak. Pretty smart for a 'bunch of savages'. They understood complex astronomy and the workings of entire galaxies before we were even convinced the Earth isn't flat.

    I've read a lot about that also and I don't think its the end of times but I do believe that there will be change in this world, their must be, things just can't continue to go on as they are now. I know that the Mayans predict this end of times, but I think it was their end of times as they are just about extinct from this world. If I'm wrong and it is the end as we now know it, well it was a good life, I have no regrets and God bless us all.

    Exactly. This was a large part of the "thesis" on the program _Ancient Aliens_. They're now starting to back off from it a bit as we get close to Dec.21/2012. Early on in the series it was "no question the world as we know it will end on Dec.21/2012!". Now, if you really thought that, would you not be out there living it up, giving it up? LOL
