Hostgator uses The Planet servers so we are in the same boat.

I am using bluehost for my Wordpress sites , I have been satisfied so far since they are fairly priced, have 24/7 support . Had yahoo before and that sucks big time

    I use following:
Hostgator - I have some very busy and critical sites with them
budgethost.ca - I have a reseller account with them and host some of my critical sites
duportonline.com - I have a reseller account with them and host a bunch of non critical site and parking pages for my domains

In a way, I have derisked myself from just depending on one host. Also I have taken dedicated IP with all of them and all of them are on different C class, thus it helps in effective SEO as well.

I had a misconception on Hostgator reliability.

If they are using The Planet servers, then I can see why many people recommend this hosting service.

The Planet is one of the best Datacenters in the United States :)

How about you buy your own Dreamhost account after you're done with your uncle's? Heres a promo for $90 off (you'll spend 29.40) for a yearly plan if you like it enough to stay.

I have my servers at Rackspace - probably one of the most expensive out there but the service/reliability is beyond comparison to any others that I ever used..
