I'm not sure why the Admins of DP made a rule to have 14 days and 25 posts before posting on buy / sell / trade. I'm new to this forum, I was referred by my x-co-founder of a real estate company and found this forum totally useful as we had competitions for logos / web designs etc. I'm just not sure why they impose this rule.

Sigh, now I am left patiently waiting for the 14 days to come up and I"m trying to really be creative in putting in 25 value added posts for DP members.. Anyway, let me know if you guys know why this rule exists.

It'll at least take a little of this frustration away that I have right now since I really wanted to use the "contest" service in the buy / sell / trade forum today! :(

    Thanks guys,

    Simon

Ultimately it's because we get a massive amount of drive-by spammers. We aren't blind to the fact that it makes it annoying to legitimate users, but at the same time it's something that prevents probably 500 new spam threads per day in the Buy/Sell/Trade section (which I'm sure you can appreciate them not being there). :)

There are some ideas about how to make the process better, but realistically they aren't going to be implemented in the next 14 days, so...

I believe that new comers should not be allowed to create a thread in any section for 14 days. :D

As many scammers start posting same thread with their link in diff sections.

Posting 25 quality posts (you'll excuse me for thinking that at least 50% of my posts are "quality") isn't difficult, if you're here because you're interested in running or creating a website. If your only reason for being here ("your" in the generic sense - I'm not pointing at you) is advertising, it might be a problem. But Shawn isn't running a free advertising service, he's running a webmaster forum.

My vote is for Quality over quantity as well! :)

IT's not hard I agree.. but most of the conversations have extremely long threads and require about 10-15 minutes to add value. Although I have to say the immediate reaction of this group shows me how useful this forum is I'm willing to do my time to get to the threshold required to be authorized to buy / sell services

As a legitimate user it's a bit annoying to me since I want to start looking to post about my content writing services here. However, I understand the point of it and I don't mind it at all.

Anyway, serious users are looking to join this forum on a long term basis. In light of this, 14 days is not long at all.
