    CMS's make it really easy to control your site, to customize things, to manage everything. Overall, it makes things easier on the webmaster, especially if you don't have any knowledge of how to program things.

    # Designed with non-technical content authors in mind.
    People with average knowledge of word processing can create the content directly. No HTML knowledge needed.
    # Configurable access restrictions.
    Users are assigned roles and permissions that prevent them from editing content which they are not authorized to change.

    The last two replies offer a great summary of what a CMS can do for you. You generally save time and money.. a database driven CMS will give your website a better chance to evolve... especially compared to manually creating static websites with no database/interactivity. A CMS can offer you all kinds of goodies.. image galleries, forums, file managers, comments, etc., etc.

    A CMS is making the maintenance of a website easier as above mentioned but with using a CMS your website can also become more interactive with the visitors this due e.g. the dynamic content and the comment options or social network plugins.

    So versus a plain HTML site it offers so many advantages that you just can't without it ;)

    I have worked on Joomla CMS and it was really easy to work as compare to programming in HTML. You can build your website using CMS, but it generates dynamic url's and is mentioned for dynamic websites designing...
