Because it gives the police, stalkers, employers, gov, potential thieves all the info they need at their finger tips, I never could understand the attraction with facebook, anyway we are all different I guess.

Facebook is the hottest trend today even Google can't compete with this social media. Its the biggest and most busy site today. Nothing can beat them because it is user-friendly, well before they released time line. They can provide targeted ads based on personal profile so its most preferred by internet marketers who needs to advertise.

I've read such news that Facebook is beaten up with Twitter in this year 2011. They're both famous but one must prevail.

Too big is sometimes not that good. It's become too general that a community lose its identity. That's why forum of a certain genre is still active and many communities use DIY social network like Ning and JomSocial

 

It's quite hard to compete with facebook really, especially they now have the money to invest. If somebody build something really better than facebook, they can still invest a lot of money to counter.

But of course, nothing is impossible. May be after some years, people get bored with the style of facebook, and some other kind of websites become main stream, who knows?

At present FB is the king thats right. but it can be replaced. As orkut has been replaced.
