Will Facebook still be relevant in 5 to 10 years?

With big hoo ha hype and buzz about upcoming Facebook IPO and crazy high valuation of as high as $100 billion. Which is ridiculous valuation considering that kingpin Google with its more stable broader revenues is worth only $200 billion despite having revenues (about $40B) and net profit (about $10B) that are 10 times of Facebook. Facebook is still mainly a social network site which comes with it a host of risks which it also mentioned in its IPO prospectus. Best examples of hyped SNS are friendster and Myspace at their peak who then crashed into oblivion. Myspace was bought by old Rupert for $500 million and sold last year for paltry $35 million. There is also the likehood of tech bubble on horizon with lots of tech IPO coming up with sky high valuations. If Google is worth $200 billion, then Facebook should be worth $20 billion NOT $100 billion. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/05/12/plenty-of-reasons-to-be-wary-of-the-facebook-hype/
Plus facebook's latest quarter results dropped indicating it has problem expanding its revenue pie in mobile. Social media fatigue and backlash is also setting in. All this does not bode well for the future of Facebook. Will Facebook be another myspace ? ;)

My belief is that Face Book will dominate the social sites sector for long. I dont see any one competing them.

    Very good question!

I highly doubt it... Five years max... Then the bubble bursts...

Oh just to add... In the US for example mobile use of FB is higher than the site itself...

The trend is in general: everything is moving to mobile!

They dominate is such ways I can only see them running into trouble by their own errors. But in 5 years anything could happen and new ideas and sites are popping up all the time. Only time will tell I guess.

What about niche (small) social sites? Will they be a threat to fb? Does facebook have a more targeted audience than niche social networks? Or will fb ever be able to have?. Besides, google has a more stable business model

Facebook users are increasing every day. They have over 900 million users worldwide with more then 50% active members who logs into their account atleast once in a day. Facebook is gonna stay forever.
