Will my blog get sued or removed?

Hi,

What are the chances of me getting sued by google for having a website named Youtube Extracts that features the best videos from the internet, especially from YouTube and other media sites?

 

What are the odds of your website becoming huge? Unless you become a giant, they won't even know you exist.

From what I can tell about your site, based on your description, is that your pretty much just copying content from youtube. In this case, I'd say the odds of you getting sand boxed are a lot higher than the odds of you getting sued.

 

like @longblog said they wont bother you unless you become a huge hit. But if I were you and be on the safe side I would get another domain which doesn't breach any trademark agreement.

More likely before even you get an opportunity to grow, Google will probably see your site as a spam and remove you from their search engine results.

 

if you must do it, use a generic name to describe the sites you're lifting off except when giving credit. so instead of having a site thats described "youtube extracts", have something like "favorite web vids" or so.

You can't use the word "YouTube" in your website name. You can make the website unique, but it really depends on how Google perceives it. If your website gets big and is promoting their service, they honestly (in my opinion) won't mind at all because you're directing more traffic to THEM.

 

You can do well posting their videos with critiques/reviews of the videos. Just don't use the word youtube in your site name.

 

Google will not know of your site unless you get really bigh, in that case they will force you to change the name. Otherwise they wont care.

Not Recommended to use any trademark, brand name, and if you are sure about the name leave it alone.

Unless you have time for a possible holiday at crowbar hotel, or lots of money for a possible big find.

 

Using a trademarked name will also hurt you in the future if you plan to sell the site. That will be a big turn-off to potential buyers. Better to come up with a fun, unique name.

 

People like tops. So you could have tops on it (top 100 bla...).

As long as you respect their embedding policy you should be fine. But you must be aware that you're depending on their content and their policy can change at any time.

 

It is not worth it having a copyrighted or trademarked name in your domain - I lost my eBay affiliate account because I had unknowingly used a trademarked term in a domain name - there was no second chances. No doubt other affiliate networks have a similar tough stance.

Having learnt my lesson the hard way I now double check before purchasing a domain.

How can one get two same named domains?

 

just don't use youtube name in your domain name
you can embed any video from youtube

 

agreed with longblog.. as long as the site is not harming youtube, they will do nothing. if they notice, they cant do anything if you dont use their name in your site.

 

A lot of websites are using youtube videos and some of them are very big website ( alex < 10000 ). So donot worry about youtube videos you are using.

The problem with the site you're describing is that youtube videos are easily removed or easily switched to 'not available for external view' and stuff like that. You will lost content in a short time, and things will start to be very messy. You can make critiques or top tens but I can tell It will only work for recent people videos, not any music videos, tv shows or movie parts.
