i have found myself a niche. will 1000+ searches for the keyword term in overture (result from DP's kw suggestion tool) be a nice one? i mean how much search will be there from google for this term then, any idea?

Not sure, but I think I heard somewhere that you should multiply the overture number by 7 to get the total searches. I don't know if that's for Google, Yahoo, or all three major SEs.

Acctually I never found Overture being 7 times of the searches. You wont see much of the overture estimate unless you rank very high in google as you wont see an even close amount from MSN or Yahoo!

i thought overture was yahoo result and is used to multiply it with 3 to get the google search. if its not the yahoo search count then, it will be much more than 7 times in google.

and i am pretty confident that i can take this one to the top of the engines. atleast on yahoo and msn... well.. google. no one can say. they might even put BBC in sandbox, lol.

so if i top the rankings in msn and yahoo then this will generate atleast a 4000 searches, rt?

    4,000 searches?

Even if it did and you rank number 1 on all engines, if we take the rough figure of 60% surfers click the top spot, that's only 2,400 visits to your site per month from that keyword or phrase.

That's 80 visitors per day. Doesn't sound good at all really. I'd aim much higher, maybe 50-70,000 searches on Overture. At least you have leeway if you don't rank number 1, and you will still get reasonable traffic if you get up there in the rankings somewhere.
