In my opinion its like windows 7 for applications such as adobe series, acad, etc etc. But then for windows xp I would prefer it for games.

    1. Cost difference is minimum

    2. Windows xp requires less hardware resources as it could be run even in 256 MB RAM but for windows 7 1GB is recommended. But when comes to software or installation of OS, XP requires each and every driver to be installed manually where as windows 7 installs that by default.

    3. Both are good but 7 is best

    4. both

Which is better??? Windows 7 of course!
    1. cost - About the same...
    2. resources needed - They are about the same
    3. speed - XP is faster, however Windows 7 has a lot more functionality
    4. reliability - Windows 7 is much more reliable!

    Hi,
I can only supply my personal feelings here, I hope that is what you are after.
    1. Xp is cheaper.
    2. There are fewer resources available now for 7 but that will change.
    3. I think they are about equal, in most areas, and each is faster in some areas.
    4. XP has been reliably breaking down for years, give 7 a go and it may be better or worse.
In summery, I am staying with XP as my every day OS, but I am trying to keep 7 up to date and play with it every now and again.

Windows 7 is by far the best. XP might perform better on older machines, but it's 2011...TIME TO UPGRADE! lol.

Windows 7 is far superior... If nothing else but the dock is superuseful once you get used to it.

Depends on your needs. Windows 7 is hands down the best, but keep in mind that not all programs work with it and that most are optimized for xp. So yeah, it all boils down to your own needs and preferences.

I still Use Vista, which got so much negative attention in the beginning. Now its works, just for what I use it for. Is Win 7 so much better then Vista for the typical user?

I gotta say, I used to love Windows XP, but since I got my new laptop, I love Windows 7... it's just the extra features it has...

Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP in two years, so you might want to switch to Windows 7 as soon as you can. Unless, of course, you're holding out for 8 which should be right around the corner.

well, XP is stable and not as buggy as win 7. But m$ is phasing out XP, so no choice but to turn to win 7.

I just bought new laptop with 7 preinstalled on it. It has not frozen once in this past month. My previous laptop had XP which froze at least once a week. My wife has Vista, and it is the WORST i have ever seen !! It chews up resources like anything, and hangs for no apparrent reason, evn though it has been tweaked by a it boff
