Windows 7 can't be installed some software that XP can. Due to it, for now i prefer XP.

lol..lucky you :D my first update for Ubuntu totally crashed on my old system though it might have been a kernel or partition issue. Got to admit I did like the simple interface and rusty look but I have no use for it now as it was at the time installed for PPTP-VPN server access to the web.

I think 7 could be better in the long run, just give it a year to get updates done.

I'm also waiting for a bit before installing Windows 7 on my system. I was able to try the beta version and I liked it, but I'm waiting for a more 'stable' Windows 7 in the future, which is like, a couple of months from now.

Is this a joke? There's not much more they can do to make Windows 7 "stable". Why do you think 8 million users BETA tested it? In a couple months from now, you'd have wasted your time for nothing. Get it now, it's freaking awesome.

My parents just got a new computer with win7 that I helped them with getting their files and programs off their xp comp. It seems to run everything that they were using on their xp system no problems so far. I do have a few more programs to install on it yet. A few I need to do are older programs and drivers so it will be interesting to see what happens with them.

It is fast, but part of the reason could be its brand new and fresh without much being done with it yet. I will need to give it some time and see if it slows down or gets sluggish. It's impressive so far, but it will need to prove itself over time as xp has. I kind of consider xp as the windows workhorse now. I might label win7 as a workhorse in the future, but not until it has proven itself. At any rate it is pretty cool.

There's still a lot of issues with the running of old win32 apps as it seems
that the old protocols are excluded in windows 7. I still need to switch to
xp to run some of my critical operations, just got to wait for the first service
pack build for dated dll files, till then hotfixes are the only option if I attempt
to execute old programs in this new operating system,

    overall I'd give it windows7 7/10 :D

Of course your windows 7 is going to be fast. You don't have all your programs and files loaded on it like your xp version. That's not rocket science to figure that out. I'm not due for an update for a few months. Then I'll go with win7. My xp has never let me down. Now the browsers, that's a whole different story.:p

By default it's not included on the start menu but as with any new operating system you need to study the help and support section provided which explain the 'how to's' and 'where is.' From there you can customize all the look and feel plus all the navigation elements for your needs.

    1. cost > XP assuming you already have it
    2. resources needed > XP
    3. speed > XP
    4. reliability > XP obviously since more bugs have been ironed out!

I guess that means I'm all for XP then! :)
