Yes, tonfas are good, have one next to my bed (Crime in my area is pretty bad). Personally I like those miniature, extendable steel batons as I can have one in my pocket and am thus always armed.

Hiding a throwning knife in your belt is a good one too, my friend does that and has suprised many a mugger...

As for karate lessons, it's difficult to find a good dojo (many crap senseis out there) and is very difficult to do, as you have to be very, very serious about it to get anywhere (because the emphasis is not solely on the fighing). Rather go for a 'fighting-only' MA like Wing Chin/Tsun, JKD, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, etc.

Several years ago I moved into a new neighborhood and got invited to go with two of the neighbors to watch some amateur boxing matches. When it’s time to buy our tickets one of the guys pulls a coin purse looking thing out of this big blue fanny pack he was wearing. We’re walking through what could have easily been the set for Bloodsport and I’m thinking great I’m here with the only guy in the place with a fanny pack on. I might as well be sharing a large popcorn with him and a coke with two straws.

So I call him on it. “Man that fanny pack makes you look gay.”

He just looks at me and slowly started to open it. There’s some kind of universal law that whenever someone gives you a knowing look and then slowly unzips a fanny pack you will instinctively lean over to peer into the fanny pack even though it’s practically resting on their crotch. I don’t make the laws of science, but I’m helpless to follow them.

Besides the little coin purse in his fanny pack I see his police badge and his gun.

Later that night the other neighbor and I were sitting at his house and he told me the guy with the fanny pack was not only on the SWAT team, but a year ago or so he was off duty and had to shoot and kill someone.

Moral of the story. Don’t F*ck with a man wearing a fanny pack, because they may do more then just beat you up and tell everyone that they had sex with your girlfriend while you’re laying their bleeding and crying, which is actually funnier then it sounds on paper.

They are tiny. I think I would just keep 2 of them in my fanny pack and if someone messed with me I'd just pull out my little Thai fighters.

Or I could get some of those girls that shoot darts. I hear they are very accurate.

 

Lol, that reminds me of a friend who did Thai Kickboxing/MMA. He fought some touring Thai champions and he said, "They're so small, this won't be so difficult" Lol, 5 seconds in and one bloody nose later he changed his mind

 

Well I noticed that docquesting hasn't been on dp in a long time so his woman problems probably never got solved.

I think this is a good thread for all the guys that are having trouble with the ladies, which is probably 89% of all guys on dp, and since there's only like 4 female members on dp it means this thread is good for 88% of all dp memembers so I'm reviving it.
