    Hi buddies,

    Am newbie for content management, I wanna know about

    (i) What is meant by wordpress, joomla, magento, drupal
    (ii) For what purpose they are used
    (iii) Difference between wordpress, joomla, magento, drupal
    (iv) Among these which is best and user friendly

    Guide me with your answer. Hope expertise will help me...

    I believe in CMS, giving clients/people the ability to run their own site rather than relying on their developer, is the best way forward.

    Wordpress is the best CMS for creating a Blog, it has all the functionality you need with great designs available for free.

    Magento is a eCommerce suite best used when you are going to have a large product range (over 1000 products), or require special customisation that other CMS + eCommerce suits cannot handle.

    Drupal is a good content CMS, but you have to know your stuff to get the best from Drupal, it's not easy to just pickup and run with. If you're going to use Drupal do your homework first.

    Joomla has issues, the 1.6+ branch ( now 2.5.2) still needs creases ironing out, but, it is the easiest to work with and there are more developers, designers and programmers working with Joomla than Drupal. 90% of my work is with Joomla and that's not by accident.

    Joomla and Drupal can do everything you need (well almost), where as Magent and Wordpress are more specific in the functionality.

    Wordpress(.org) is made for blogs, but with plugins and themes you can make w/e you want.. Dont rly need anything else atm.. And you wont find a more "easy to manage" website system.. Ye, i'm wordpress fan.

    Actually, i believe it's wordpress.com that's marketed more towards bloggers. wordpress.org is more aimed towards websites. Wordpress in general is easy to use and you can have a great looking site set-up within minutes. They also have several free templates to choose from, based on if you want your site to look more like a blog or a general static website.

    I would much preferably use Wordpress. Although it's ultimately for blogging, with some themes and a few minor twitch, it can do anything.

    If you're asking this question, chances are you'll want to use WordPress. It's certain the most popular of the ones you mentioned. (I saw a blog that referenced a stat that 10% of the Internet's websites are built with WordPress.)

    You'll need to do a bit of research on this, especially if you plan to develop websites professionally. You're asking something akin to the difference between MS Word, Excel, Google Docs, OpenOffice, Notepad, etc. They're all different with some overlap in functionality and have pros and cons.

    I will go for Joomla. Wordpress, Drupal and DotNetNuke where also good but what catch my vision is the Joomla Platform.. Hard at first time but as you go on Joomla makes it more easier and easier...

    I have used Wordpress and drupal both. But drupal is a little messy in the comparison to wordpress.

    Actually all four are free open source CMS platforms and use by people today. But personally I most like to use Magento due to its good features.
