Wordpress .php permalink not working

    I want to convert one of my sites to WP and my links are in .php which means that instead of site.com/page/ I'll need site.com/page.php

    I tried %postname%.php in WP and it's not working.

    I have .htaccess and mod-rewrite on the server.

    What can I do?

    it's not important. If I install a WP to any new website I can't have the .php extension

    have you tried reinstall of wordpress. Ive had the same problem before and fresh install fixed it.
