For minor purposes, use Wordpress. For an extra dynamic site that is scalable, use Joomla. In other words, if you have small plans, use Wordpress, if you have big plans, use Joomla. Even if you do choose Wordpress and find out that you need something more useful, there is an extension that can take your Wordpress database and input it into the Joomla database. Technology is super.

Used Joomla but now switched to Wordpress. Joomla is good and very flexible but it's too much to learn for me. On the other hand, Wordpress is simple and straight forward.

Wordpres is far better for any blog..... joomla is better for a more complex website that is not a blog.

I agree, in fact a lot of people who use Joomla for the main area of their site will use WP for their blog because Joomla is just not good for blogging.

Joomla is very nice and presentable but Wordpress will save you lots of time and has lots of free features to start a site instantly!

Also depends on your level of knowledge and expertise, I recommend, if you're starting, wordpress, is simpler. Joomla has a steeper learning curve. My 2Cents,

All my Joomla domains were attacked by black hat hackers. It was in old version. It was not in use... but it was installed...

These softwares you need to have them upgrade all the time with last version.

That is very good advice. I would add that if you install third-party plugins they will increase the odds of you getting an attack.
