Would this work with adsense?

Hi,

Im more of a seo guy that has only ever worked on company web sites that sell the product im optermizing on.

I have been offered a web site (free) that is like a press release site but rather then users submit the press releases the web master writes them him self.

The sites been running for about 4 months and does not get much traffic as it is totally not optermized for any search engine.

The owner (a friend) is off traveling and has offered me the site or he is just going to let it go.

He did it as a hobby and also to support his job but he never made a penny on it. I asked him why he never added adsense and he just replied 'what is it'?

If i put the time in and add random content to this site and also add adsense would i be likley to make anything?

I dont mind hard work but im just trying to work out if anyone makes more from sites like this (totally random content) or do you need to build industy pacific sites for example: if i wanted to make money from adsense in the automotive trade do i build a car web site?

Any advice is welcome.

 

Technically no, you can make money using adsense if you are in any trade. The only down fall of this is that you may not be passionate about the website and it will show in your adsense revenue because updating content for your website will be more of a chore then something you may look forward to doing.

So technically with this press release website yes you can make money from it even if you used to be more in the SEO related business, but it does mean you will want to keep it up. It may just be too much of a hassle. Since you are more of an SEO type of guy, I would suggest making a website on SEO and you will see in your adsense revenue that making money will be easier in the sense that you will have an easier time writing more material and content of a higher quality which in turn will make your website more popular and get you more traffic, and usually more traffic means more adsense moola $$$

I think i have the passion and like most if i can see a possible $$$$ then im interested.
I guess its like playing a sport, when your father says you can play it makes you want to go out and play.

My question was more on the line of ...
If i have a site that has NO real industry but has content on lots of different products and different new stories does it stand a chance of making any money against a web site that is dedicated to a set industry?

Another question if you dont mind ,,,
If a site has 3 news stories ...
1) motor car
2) motor bike
3) boats
Can and will adsense change the adds on each page to match the content?
For example on the boats page i do NOT want adds for motor cars etc ...

 

Yes it should addapt to each category like your boats page will show boats ads etc.
