    Hi,

Since last week my computer has been automatically opening up IE and loading up pages such as:

    1. cb.adprofile.net/HomeFinanceDirect/2/3693.html?
    2. amaena.com/securityworm5/?aid=vm_ap_scwaskw_7&lid=secure
    3. overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?page=staticpage&page_id=7580
    etc...

    It's so annoying...

Is this one of those IP based ad things (sorry don't know the technical term)!? And if so can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

    Thanks

Download ad-aware and check for spyware. That would be my first step.

It could be coolwebsearch, a damn nasty adware program that spybot and adaware don't fix (as far as I know.) CWShredder should fix it, if so.

Trend's anti-spyware product is also very good (includes cwshredder), but you only get a 30 day trial with the download. I think you can do the online scans free unlimited, though.

Ad-Aware is limited i think and spybot is totally free.

I cannot really comment about its usage since i have'nt used Ad-Aware.
