I have a question: How the hell did PayPal get ahold of the domain x.com? I mean, I know they're powerful and such (or should I say eBay), but I still don't understand it. If you try, x.com redirects to PayPal.com, and I'm sure I'm not the first one to realize this. I used the "Search" function and couldn't find a topic about this, so I'm making one. I'm just wondering how they did this, since no other one letter domains are available for purchase (or work).

The spammers did it with a 302 as well:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?q="x.com"

    Server Response : x.com
    HTTP/1.1 302 Found
    Date: Tue, 11 Jul 2006 17:33:52 GMT
    Server: Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a mod_ssl/2.8.22 OpenSSL/0.9.7e

PayPal acquired X.com a long time ago (I believe X.com was an online virtual bank).

Yes I believe X.com was started a long time before PayPal... :)
It's a great domain, I mean just by a company having that domain they're worth more than what they are already.

I remember when paypal first launched there were even a few articles about it. They even advertised it in a few places as x.com

I personally always type x.com instead of paypal.com when I want to go there :D

But how did X.com get the domain X.com? I thought one letter domains weren't allowed to be sold. By the way, I was just feeling through my hair and I pulled out a small pebble. How long has that been in there?!
