Yet another new Directory.

Hi all,
We've finally got most of our directory script working.
So we're opening it for entries.
The directory is located at http://www.jlinternet.co.uk/directory
It hasn't been altered to make it look pretty at the moment - so it's rather bland

The directory has the following functions:
1) ability to add sub-directories to multiple categories
2) free submission.
3) rotating front-page featured link
4) 3 levels of premium listing: frontpage, category, & both
5) no requirement for reciprocal links

The premium listing aren't yet fully active - it's seems wrong to try and charge people for listing whilst the directory has neither PR nor is it spidered atm.
We thought about offering free frontpage premium listing for the first 5 sites added, but that's a bit boring. Instead we're going to do the following:
the following site numbers will get free frontpage premium listings:
#10,#20,#30,#50,#75
We haven't decided on what to do with the premium category listings, when we decide it will be announced here and retro fitted.
The free premium listings will last until the home page (http://www.jlinternet.co.uk/directory) gets a Google Toolbar PR, at which point you'll be contacted to see if you want to keep the listing going at whatever rate we decide is reasonable.
The frontpage premium listing will be limited to 10 in total, so as not a) dilute the PR too much and b) stop the frontpage looking too stupid.

This version of the directory is fully human edited - the next version will be mostly automated - so bear with us. We aim to review every site within 24 hours.

Whilst there is no requirement for a reciprical link, if you want to give us one we won't say no - you choose the anchor and the page you want to link to.

At the moment, the 'suggest category' isn't active. So if there's a category missing, just let me know and I'll add it.

The following sites won't be accepted: adult content, hate sites, sites promoting illegal activities, sites that actively attempt to cheat adsense. This list isn't exhaustive and we retain the right to refuse any sites.

 

Tried to add a site, but kept getting the following error message:

sorry, you cannot call this page directly

You're IP address has been logged

Incidentally, it should be your (sorry, but I can't help noticing things like that)

Are you blocking HTTP_REFERER headers - that is about the only thing that will cause that error to be shown.
Is there any reason why you're blocking the headers ?

Nice, I added my rugby forum, but there is no category for rugby as a sport. Hope you don't reject it for being submitted to the wrong cat

 

I think I am, from results with w3c, and no, there isn't any reason I am doing so. In fact, I'm not sure what is doing it (either Firefox, or Norton Firewall, which has recently been causing me some problems)

 

Added a site. Maybe you could add a CSS, and drop the Times new roman fonts...

In the early days, sites won't be rejetced for being in the wrong cat.
Certainly, if there isn't a cat (like there wan't for rugby) then the parent cat would be the correct one anyway. BTW, I added rugby and put the site in it.

Perhaps if you don't like that font you should change your defaults Any font decisions are done by your browser at the mo.
We will be css specifying fonts are part of the prettying up process. ATM it's simply functional.

Yours was #30 silencer so it's on the frontpage.
Be interesting to see if the directory gets to #75 as quick as it got to #30.
I hadn't expected much response especially since none of the pages have been spidered yet.
